Shengwei Smart Container Farms Drive China-Africa Agri Breakthrough

On the afternoon of December 10th, at the China-Uganda Trade and Investment Seminar held in Qingdao, Shengwei Container’s innovative project, the "Container Smart Plant Factory," garnered active attention and high praise from H.E. Mr. Wonekha, Ugandan Ambassador to China, and Mr. Geoffrey Awori, Deputy Head of Mission at the Ugandan Embassy. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the application prospects and cooperation models of smart agriculture technology in Africa.

During the seminar, the Shengwei team systematically presented the overall solution of the Container Smart Plant Factory to the Ugandan delegation. The project utilizes modular containers as carriers, integrating advanced technologies such as intelligent environmental control, vertical farming, and integrated water-fertilizer systems. This enables stable, high-efficiency production year-round within limited space, significantly reducing reliance on natural environments and water-soil resources, and offering a rapidly deployable innovative pathway for climate-resilient agriculture.

After listening to the presentation, H.E. Mr. Wonekha stated that the Ugandan government is actively promoting agricultural modernization and the construction of a food security system, and Shengwei's smart plant factory model aligns closely with its development needs. This technology can help address challenges such as unstable vegetable supply during dry seasons and limited land resources in Uganda, and he expressed hope for pilot and promotion cooperation of the project in Uganda.

Mr. Geoffrey Awori noted that such technology-driven agricultural projects not only enhance agricultural output and quality but also bring opportunities for technology transfer and industrial upgrading to the region, aligning with Uganda’s strategic goals of promoting sustainable agriculture and youth employment.

The project leader of Shengwei stated that the company is committed to advancing sustainable agricultural development through technological innovation and actively responding to China-Africa cooperation opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative. The exchange with the Ugandan delegation has laid an important foundation for the project’s entry into Africa. The next step involves ongoing optimization of the technology and research into localized adaptation, working with Ugandan partners to promote the application of smart agriculture in Uganda and surrounding regions.

About Shengwei Container Smart Plant Factory
This solution utilizes standardized containers as modular plant factories, equipped with fully automated lighting, temperature control, irrigation, and nutrient monitoring systems. It can be widely deployed in urban suburbs, communities, schools, mining areas, and regions with limited natural environments, enabling localized, year-round production of leafy greens, herbs, and micro-vegetables. It stands as a viable technological pathway for addressing climate challenges and ensuring food supply.
